Back to School Night – Sept. 11th
Back to School Night begins at 6:30pm in the Church with a presentation by Principal Pinkofsky followed by teacher presentations in the classrooms and a reception in the school courtyard with refreshments. This is a parent-only event.
Virtus Training, Fingerprinting, and TB test
Virtus training, fingerprints, and TB test results are required for any school volunteers including but not limited to field trip chaperones, lunch/playground volunteers, and classroom volunteers. Make sure to complete these early so you don’t miss out on school activities!
Sept 7 – Virtus training at 9:30am at SPA (there is still room!)This is the initial training.
Sept 21 – Virtus re-certification 10:00am to 11:30am at SPA. This is for parents who have already completed the initial training 4 yrs ago and are due for renewal.

Hot Lunch
Starting on September 5th, Organic Kids LA will be providing our hot lunch at SPA. Organic Kids LA provides hot lunch meals M-Th.
While Jersey Mike’s will continue to be offered every other TUESDAY throughout the school year, please note that we will no longer have Pizza Tuesday’s, since OKLA offers homemade pizza several times a week.

After School Enrichment
Start the school year off by trying something new or improving a skill you already have!
Choose from lots of fun and challenging activities like art, robotics, tumbling, cooking, chess, yoga, SPA spirit squad, golf, Persian language, and sewing.

Classes currently say “fully booked” just to give you a preview of times, dates, cost, instructors and program descriptions. Registration for all families opens tomorrow at 7:00 P.M. Classes do fill quickly so plan accordingly. Refund requests will be honored 48 hours prior to the beginning of class. Once sessions begin there will be no refunds.

Monthly Reading Calendar and Book Report
This went home with your 1st grader last week. The goal is to read 15 minutes a day, at least 5 days a week. Two of the books should be non-fiction. There is an attached Book Report for your child to complete. The Reading Calendar and Book Report are due at the beginning of next month.
Monthly Poem
Each month the kids will learn to recite a poem, from the Chicken Soup series. Ms. Newton sent home September’s poem. Please be sure to practice with them at home. This month they will recite the poem as a class. October’s Poem will be tested individually.

Students/Faculty/Staff who test positive for COVID-19 must remain home and isolate for five days regardless of vaccination Students/Faculty/Staff who test positive for COVID must remain home and isolate for 5 days, regardless of their vaccination status, history of any previous infection, or lack of symptoms.
Anyone with symptoms of possible COVID-19 infection, regardless of vaccination status or previous infection, should isolate and test for COVID-19.
Students/Faculty/Staff with COVID-19 may end their isolation after Day 5 if both of the following criteria are met: no fever for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication, and symptoms are not present or mild and improving. It is strongly recommended that an individual test negative for COVID-19 prior to ending the isolation period.
Anyone who continues to have symptoms of COVID-19 that are not improving should continue to isolate until their symptoms are improving.
Masking
Masking of the class is not mandatory, but strongly encouraged to keep the spread to a minimum. Masking is now the personal preference of the students and parents.
Testing
Testing of the class in not mandatory, but strongly encouraged that your child get tested, preferably within 3 to 5 days after the last date of exposure.
Symptoms
Monitor your health for 10 days. If you develop symptoms of COVID-19, remain at home and test immediately. If you test positive for COVID-19, please isolate at home following “Home Isolation Instructions for COVID-19” (ph.lacounty.gov/covidisolation) and notify us. When you notify us, we can take additional steps to keep our school community safe.
