Clubs & Councils

There are many other opportunities for Saint Paul’s students to be a part of the school community. We believe in the importance of empowering students as leaders now and for the future.

Students may choose to lead or be a part of the following councils to benefit the school as a whole:

  • Student Council
    • Student Council is comprised of 10 elected members and the leaders from each individual council.
  • Art Council
    • Arts Council is made up of student volunteers who help the teacher prepare materials for projects and enhance both school activities and the campus with student art.
  • Library Council
    • Interested students in 5th-8th grade support the mission of the library by helping maintain an orderly environment by shelving books, cleaning, and organizing. They also advise new book purchases for the library collection and assist younger students during their library visits. Finally, these students help host special events, such as Accelerated Reader Parties, guest speakers, author visits, and the Literati Book Fair.
  • Yearbook Council
    • The yearbook is a production of the students. There are advisors that will prove read and make changes. But the book is made by students for students. The Yearbook Council consists of 6th-8th graders. The 8th graders are the editors. There are generally 2 to 4 editors each year. Staff can be anywhere from 10-15 students. The editors choose theme, cover, and contents of the yearbook. They oversee the students’ work. All students are volunteers. The staff works on pages in the yearbook. They are assigned pages to work on. They design the pages and place the photos and texts on their pages. When it is done, the editors proofread the pages. Advisors double checks the pages and it goes to printing company/
  • Broadcast Club
    • The school broadcast happens every Friday morning in place of regular morning announcements on the PA system. This student-run club brainstorms story ideas, does research, writes scripts, and practices interviews in preparation for the live broadcast at the end of every week. The Broadcast Club welcomes 5th-8th graders who are interested in working on their public speaking skills, enjoy expressing their creativity, and want to work hard within a team environment. Students learn how to communicate effectively with peers, younger students, and adults as well as how to use various pieces of technology needed to run our broadcasts.
  • Music Council
    • The Music Council is an opportunity for students with a particular interest in a particular instrument to gain additional training and support outside of normal class activities.  It also serves as an at-school band camp for students who want to gain experience playing in a full ensemble of contemporary instruments including acoustic and electric guitar, bass guitar, ukelele, keyboards, percussion and drum kit. These small groups have in the past also included string duos, a string quartet, and piano soloists.  Certain groups are then chosen to perform a short piece or song at the end of year concert.
  • Robotics Club
    • The robotics club is an extracurricular club where students learn the basic principles of engineering and basic programming commands.  Students work collaboratively to help teach one another, teamwork to solve various challenges, and problem solving.
  • Spanish Council
    • Advanced Spanish speaking volunteer work under the supervision of the UpperGrade Spanish Teacher to tutor students who need additional help.
