Field Trips
Imagine your kindergartner coming home bubbling with excitement about the monkeys and otters at the L.A. Zoo. Picture your seventh-grader snorkeling in the crystal waters of Catalina Island, discovering marine life up close and in person. Envision your eighth-grader standing beneath ancient granite pillars in Yosemite, understanding for the first time what “awe-inspiring” truly means.
At St. Paul the Apostle, our field trips are carefully chosen day-long experiences that transform abstract concepts into unforgettable memories. At least twice a year, every grade level explores Southern California’s incredible resources, from touching tide pools at the Aquarium of the Pacific to launching into space exhibits at the Science Center. Our middle school students have the opportunity to participate in field studies: longer, more captivating off-campus excursions.
Growing Adventures for Growing Minds
Our youngest learners stay close to home with wonder-filled experiences like bubble scientists visiting campus and meeting real firefighters. As students grow, so do their horizons and their chance to venture off campus for the day with their teachers on Field Trips. Third-graders walk through history at Chumash villages. Fifth-graders gaze at stars through telescopes at Griffith Observatory. Sixth-graders stand in the Getty Villa Museum, connecting history to humanity.
Overnight Field Studies that Build Character
The adventure truly begins in middle school with our Field Studies programs. Sixth-graders conquer challenge courses and strengthen friendships at Pali Mountain Camp. Seventh-graders become marine biologists for three days at Catalina Island Marine Institute, snorkeling, kayaking, and studying ocean ecosystems. The pinnacle? Our eighth-graders spend five transformative days in Yosemite, hiking, bonding, and creating memories that last long after graduation (which they celebrate together at Disneyland!).
More Than Miles from School
These experiences support our curriculum while building confidence, independence, and wonder. Students return not just with souvenirs and photos, but with expanded horizons and stories they will tell for years. In a world of virtual experiences, we give your children the real thing: hands-on discovery that ignites a passion for learning.
