Congratulations on surviving the first week of school!
A few important points to keep in mind as we continue throughout the year:
- Circle drop off is from 7:15-8:00am, with younger kids arriving on the latter end.
- Pick up starts at 2:45pm in the classroom, if you arrive after 3:05pm the children will be at the lunch table. Aftercare starts at 3:30pm.
- Fridays are half day with dismissal at 12:30pm.
- Weekly COVID-19 testing will now be on Wednesday.
- Festival Wear/Gear can be worn ALL DAY, EVERY DAY up until the fall festival.
- Mrs. Morgan and Ms. Newton will be sending home weekly newsletters every Monday which contain academic info. Please check your child’s homeroom folder daily!
DROP-OFF and PICK-UP
Morning drop-off will be in the traffic circle in the yard between 7:15-8:00am (same location as last year). Cars may only approach the Selby Avenue driveway entrance from the south (turning right) and there will be no drop-off stations on Ohio Ave. There are no time slots assigned this year; however, we urge younger students to arrive in the later part of this window.
You will need to complete your child’s wellness check on the SchoolPass app prior to drop-off. However, you will no longer need to show proof of “wellness” while in the drop-off line. There will also be NO temperature checks. Students dropped off between 7:15am-7:30am will be directed to the gym. After 7:30am, students will go directly to class.
Pick-up is at 2:45pm. There will be no traffic circle. You will need to park your car and enter the school for pick-up. Remember to check out your child on the SchoolPass app prior to pick-up. Teachers will be confirming on their end that the child was been checked out before releasing them. Also, remember to add those authorized to pick up your child as “drivers,” this includes older children authorized to pick up siblings.
At 3:05pm, teachers will release students to a supervised area at the lunch tables in the yard where they may be picked up.
At 3:30pm, all students still on campus will be signed into After-School Care and charges will apply. Please refer to the After-School Care information sheet for further details. If you do you anticipate, using After-School Care, please complete the registration form and return it to Mayora Hiney at firstname.lastname@example.org or if you have any specific questions about After-School Care, please refer to Mayora.
We have been informed that COVID-19 testing will now occur every Wednesday. Each week you will need to complete a new COVID consent form, but you do not need to provide a copy of your insurance card each time, which is a bonus!

WATER BOTTLE! Please have your child bring a reusable water bottle to school, they are not allowed to use the water fountains and it’s been really hot lately.
LABEL EVERYTHING! So important: hats, sweaters, lunch containers, pencil packs, water bottles, backpacks, ANY personal items.
BRING A SNACK! First graders do not have access to use the vending machines, they must bring their own snacks to school, along with their lunch, of course.
WEEKLY LETTER: The First Grade Teachers will be sending home a weekly newsletter each Monday that contains academic info. Make sure to check your child’s homeroom folder daily!
ONE LOVE FESTIVAL WEAR
If you haven’t already heard, there are some new festival wear items that can be worn ALL YEAR LONG! The Smily Polo & Green T-shirt (pictured below) are uniform approved, meaning they are literally part of the uniform for the rest of the school year!
You may also wear festival gear (in any color) to school ALL DAY, EVERY DAY until the fall festival! After the festival weekend, you may wear festival gear on Fridays only, with the exception of the TWO shirts (pictured above) that are uniform approved to wear any day of the week, for the rest of the school year.
