3rd Grade Update – Week of Oct 25th

RUNNER’S CLUB

Please bring these forms in as soon as possible.  Everyone should participate.  It is a wonderful experience and the students love it.  We are happy to start this again since it was not done during Covid.  Starting this week weather permitting.

LEAF PROJECT

Students should be finding leaves and pressing them into a heavy book.  The more leaves you collect the better and the flatter you press a leaf, the better it will look in your booklet.  If you need any leaf that you can’t find, please tell the teacher and the class because we can share leaves.  Students will be graded for cover decoration, neatness and finishing the project. Hopefully, this is a good experience for the whole family.  Thank you.

SCIENCE SPIDER PROJECT

This project will be assigned this week and done exclusively at school.  No work can be done at home for this project.  The project is being done to compliment the book, Charlotte’s Web being presently read in Language Arts Class.

MATURITY

This cannot be rushed and many of your children just don’t have a lot of maturity at this time.  Example…Friday, the 3B class got a wonderful compliment from Mrs. Pinkofsky that she announced to the whole school.  Great news.  Then in Library on Friday and in PE on Friday that class got reprimanded for talking and not following directions.  Disaster.  Why does this happen?  Maturity.  We need to always be trying to improve hand responsible for our actions.  And there you have it.

POETRY

Students will find a poem of at least 8 lines for memorization to be presented in front of the class. I will be grading on:  eye contact, knowledge of material, expression, correct volume and speed. They must sign up for the poem by November 5th.  Poems will be presented starting in the middle of November. Students in each class must choose different poems.

The poems must have a Thanksgiving or Christmas theme.  I must approve of the poem before they sign up.
