RETESTS FOR MATH AND RELIGION

  • On Monday, students will take a retest on the subtraction test.  The last retest was sent home on Friday.  This is the last opportunity for this math test.  On Tuesday, students will take the retest in religion if they need to do this test.

TURKEY DECORATING  

  • Students are bringing home a turkey picture to decorate.  This is due Tuesday, November 16.  They can be taken home the day before our holiday begins.

LEAF PROJECTS will be on display next week in the third grade hallway.

Jersey Mikes for Second Trimester

Jersey Mike’s order link for the 2nd trimester is now open! 
 
All sandwich meals are pre-ordered for the entire 2nd trimester. These are the Jersey Mike’s lunch dates (every other Tuesday) in the 2nd trimester: 
Dec 7, Jan 11, Jan 25, Feb 8 and Feb 22. 
Sandwiches are available in regular size ($6.45 each) or large ($8.30 each). The choices are ham, turkey, Italian and veggie and each sandwich comes with apple slices and a cookie.
 
Please click on the link below to pre-order sandwich meals for the 2nd trimester. The deadline to order is Tuesday, November 30th. Late orders will NOT be accepted. 
 
 
PLEASE NOTE: You must pre-order the same sandwich size and type for each date. Once you pre-order, there are NO REFUNDS or CHANGES for any reason, including illness, quarantine and school events (e.g., field trips). There are no scheduled field trips on these dates but this is subject to change. Please consider this strict policy before ordering.

LEAF PROJECT [Due Tuesday, Nov 9]: We have shared leaves with students, if they have asked for them.  I have furry leaves and compound leaves if your student wants one.  They must ask.

    • This is the hardest test that students will take all year.  If a student got more that 3 problems wrong, they will have to retake the test.  In fact, I will give everyone the opportunity to do the test again since the majority of students do have to retake it. Students will come home Monday with that test for parents to look at.  The test on Wednesday will be shorter but still cover all the items on the original test.

WEEKLY REMINDERS FROM THE TEACHERS:

  • Please provide a well-fitting mask to your student(s) that covers their mouth and nose at all times when inside!
  • Bring your fully-charged Chromebook to school everyday. 
  • Reminder to submit Patient Consent Form for COVID testing at the beginning of the week. If a student is absent the day of COVID testing, they will not be able to return to campus until they are tested outside of school AND receive a “NEGATIVE” result.
  • Please remember to check Schoology daily, especially the Homeroom pages. If you are having difficulty accessing Schoology feel free to contact Mr. Lopez (elopez@sp-apostle.org) so that he can support you in getting that access.

SPA FACULTY & STAFF CHRISTMAS FUND
SPA families have a long tradition of generosity toward our amazing faculty and staff at Christmas time. In lieu of giving individual gifts to the teachers and staff, please contribute to the SPA Faculty and Staff Christmas Fund and make gift-giving easy.
All parents are invited to contribute between now and Wednesday, December 8th. The SPA Faculty and Staff Christmas Fund will be distributed as Christmas bonuses and your family name will appear in a Christmas letter to be distributed before the holiday break. Participation is optional.

Night of Lights – December 4, 2021, from 6-9 pm

Night of Lights – An Advent Celebration of Peace and Love, will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021, from 6-9 pm. The Advent Celebration will take place at the church and Parish Center, and will include a prayerful walk, live music, followed by refreshments. You must sign up for a timed slot to attend. 5th GRADE TRAFFIC DUTY – DECEMBER 1, WEDNESDAY – FIRST DAY It’s 5th Grade’s turn to sign up for Traffic Duty for December! Here is the Sign Up Link:  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/805084bacab2eabf85-november4 Traffic Duty Guidelines:

  • Mask required and social distancing enforced
  • Morning start time is 7:15 AM
  • Afternoon traffic at the Selby driveway is from 2:40 – 3:30 PM (12:15 PM – 1:00 PM on Fridays)

  • If you are unable to make a shift, it is your responsibility to find a replacement.

HOT LUNCH UPDATE
We have been hearing that the daily lunch lists for Freshlunches are not always accurate. Please double check your orders each week and let you your child know if he or she can expect to receive a hot lunch that day.

If your child is mistakenly excluded from the lunch list, instruct your child to speak to the server and ask for one of the extra lunches that are available. 

PICK UP PROCEDURE DURING SCHOOL HOURS
If you are picking up your student during the school day for appointments or other reasons, please follow this procedure.
1. Email your homeroom teacher and Nurse A ahead of time. For upper grades, you may also email your teacher for the class(es) your student is missing if you know the schedule.
2. Remind your student to go to Nurse A’s office before the time of pickup.
3. About 10 minutes before arriving, call Mitchell at the front office so he can inform Nurse A.
4. When you arrive at school, please drive up to the playground gate.
5. Let the guard know you are picking up your student from Nurse A and give your student’s name.
5. Wait for your student near the playground gate.
