" There is no exercise better for
the heart than reaching down and lifting people up."
From the desk of Sister Stella Maria, Principal:
During this past year the Paulist Women's Club Board under
the leadership of Debbie Buderwitz have given outstanding
service to our community. It has been a real joy for Fr.
Tom and me to approach Debbie and her board to ask for assistance
and help in many areas. Every member of the board has worked
hard and carried their full load with care, kindness and
dedication.
Debbie we salute you for youre consistent dedicated
joyful leadership during this entire year. We also express
appreciation to your entire family for lending you to us
during this busy and important year in the history of St.
Pauls.
Sunday, May 15th is the great feast of Pentecost. We celebrated
the decent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles and on us.
Be alert and ready to receive Him. The Spirit is associated
with all great beginnings. He is the Initiator of fresh
developments and the Leader of new movements. He is alive
at every turning point in the march of life on earth. He
is the Creator Spirit.
HAPPY FEAST OF PENTECOST
Be sure to check inside the brown envelope that your oldest
or only child has taken home this week. There is a very
special announcement inside. May the Holy Spirit inspire
you to call (310) 474--1587 Ext. 287.

PWC
President
Dear SPA Families:
As most of you have already heard, our hot lunch caterer,
The Moveable Feast, closed its doors for business suddenly
last week. They gave us no notice and we regret the inconvenience
and financial loss to all parents involved. Fortunately,
the PWC had another hot lunch provider close at hand and
it gives us a chance to sample Beths Kitchen before
next school year. We will provide hot lunch to those enrolled
with Moveable Feast on the remaining Tuesdays this month.
In addition, the entire school can sample Beths
Kitchens fare on Tuesday, May 31st when the PWC
hosts a pizza lunch for the entire school.
The Installation Luncheon was held on Wednesday to install
Julie Chait and her Board for the 2005-2006 school year.
It was a lovely day and we enjoyed the performances by
1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades very much. Many thanks to
Danny Harold Catering for the wonderful meal and to Ms.
Hall for her hard work with the children!
My personal thanks goes out to all of you for your support
this year. It has been a wonderful experience for me to
be your president and I will always treasure the many
friendships Ive developed during the process. There
are several exciting events yet to come this year. Look
for more information in the coming weeks!
I hope that every mother enjoyed accolades and pampering
last weekend have a terrific week!

A HUGE
thank you to the Kindergarten room parents and the Kindergarten
parents for a fantastic effort the first week of May. Thank
you Kimberly, Jewel, Kelly and Jackie!!! Kindergarten parents,
thank you for attending the training sessions and for taking
your job so seriously. It shows, and the children are safer
as a result!
A few
reminders:
1. If you are trading shifts with someone you need to let
the room parents or Mary Ann McQueen know so that we can
be aware of who is doing what.
2. Remember that only returning parents can be in the position
of Selby Driveway Director. This is very critical. Please
serve in the position on the schedule so that we can avoid
confusion in the early morning.
To all
parents:
1. We are having a bit of a problem with parking on Selby
in the morning. Please do not park anywhere on Selby in
the morning, even north of the driveway entrance. Park in
the neighborhood to walk in, please.
2. Please do not drop students off across the street from
school. This is unsafe.
3. Cell phone talking during pick up and drop off is still
a problem. Please turn off your phones as you approach campus.
4. Gently reminding each other can be supportive and builds
a safe community for us all. We depend on rule followers
to set the example for our children and for other adults.
5. The school is safer when we work together. Should you
have questions about the traffic program please feel free
to phone me so that we can discuss any questions or concerns
that you have. I welcome your participation and input.
6. If you are available to help with traffic for the month
of June please give me a call as though spots are very coveted
and I would not want anyone who wants to serve to miss out
on an important opportunity to serve!

Weekly
Readings/Reflections
May 15, 2005
Pentecost Sunday
Mass During the Day
Psalm: Sunday 23
Reading I
Acts 2:1-11
When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled,
they were all in one place together.
And suddenly there came from the sky
a noise like a strong driving wind,
and it filled the entire house in which they were.
Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire,
which parted and came to rest on each one of them.
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit
and began to speak in different tongues,
as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim.
Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven
staying in Jerusalem.
At this sound, they gathered in a large crowd,
but they were confused
because each one heard them speaking in his own language.
They were astounded, and in amazement they asked,
"Are not all these people who are speaking Galileans?
Then how does each of us hear them in his native language?
We are Parthians, Medes, and Elamites,
inhabitants of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia,
Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia,
Egypt and the districts of Libya near Cyrene,
as well as travelers from Rome,
both Jews and converts to Judaism, Cretans and Arabs,
yet we hear them speaking in our own tongues
of the mighty acts of God."
Reading II
1 Cor 12:3b-7, 12-13
Brothers and sisters:
No one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the
Holy Spirit.
There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same
Spirit;
there are different forms of service but the same Lord;
there are different workings but the same God
who produces all of them in everyone.
To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit
is given for some benefit.
As a body is one though it has many parts,
and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body,
so also Christ.
For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body,
whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free persons,
and we were all given to drink of one Spirit.
Gospel
Jn 20:19-23
On the evening of that first day of the week,
when the doors were locked, where the disciples were,
for fear of the Jews,
Jesus came and stood in their midst
and said to them, "Peace be with you."
When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his
side.
The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.
Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you.
As the Father has sent me, so I send you."
And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said
to them,
"Receive the Holy Spirit.
Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them,
and whose sins you retain are retained."
