"I have learned that if you like yourself and who you
are,then
you'll probably like almost everyone you meet regardless
of who they
are." H Jackson Brown
From the desk of Sister Stella Maria, Principal:
At this time of year all of us,both students and parents,
need reminders of our school rules and the systems we have
in place for order and safety. A number of concerned parents
who are on traffic duty are observing the following:
At
drop off time in the morning, parents are driving into the
Mormon lot to unload students. Please do not enter the Mormon
parking lot under any conditions. The only authorized cars
in this area are the faculty cars. Having a place for the
faculty to park is a very special gift; if this is abused
we will lose the privilege---the faculty will have to park
on the yard and take up the children's playing space. There
are two St. Paul's parents who carpool their children and
some Mormon children they may enter the lot to drop off.
We know these parents and understand from the Mormons the
arrangement.
An
additional problem--some cars drop off in the Moprmon driveway
thus delaying the faculty from entering and making them
late for morning meetings and for their scheduled arriving
time. Please help---I have more to do in the morning than
to stand at the gate and supervise responsible adults.
At
the end of this month we will have the 12th, anniversary
of the death of Han Ren, a fourth grader, who died as a
result of an accident in the late afternoon on the grounds.
I remind you of this very sad anniversary to instill in
you hearts the importance of following the directions of
the parent volunteers at all times regardless of your personal
agenda.
Parent
volunteers, please do not have your own children wait by
you when you are on duty. Be alert at all times; do not
carry on a conversation with a partner when on duty. Thank
you so much for your ongoing help and cooperation.

Weekly
Readings/Reflections
February 20, 2005
Second Sunday of Lent
Psalm: Sunday 11
Reading I
Gn 12:1-4a
The LORD said to Abram:
"Go forth from the land of your kinsfolk
and from your father's house to a land that I will show
you.
"I will make of you a great nation,
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
so that you will be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you
and curse those who curse you.
All the communities of the earth
shall find blessing in you."
Abram went as the LORD directed him.
Reading II
2 Tm 1:8b-10
Beloved:
Bear your share of hardship for the gospel
with the strength that comes from God.
He saved us and called us to a holy life,
not according to our works
but according to his own design
and the grace bestowed on us in Christ Jesus before time
began,
but now made manifest
through the appearance of our savior Christ Jesus,
who destroyed death and brought life and immortality
to light through the gospel.
Gospel
Mt 17:1-9
Jesus said to his disciples:
"You have heard that it was said,
You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.
But I say to you, love your enemies,
and pray for those who persecute you,
that you may be children of your heavenly Father,
for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good,
and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust.
For if you love those who love you, what recompense will
you have?
Do not the tax collectors do the same?
And if you greet your brothers and sisters only,
what is unusual about that?
Do not the pagans do the same?
So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect."

From
the School Nurse
From the Health Office:
Dear Parents,
Please be advised that we still have a few cases of strep
throat. Please take note of your child when he/she is complaining
of a sore throat. Some parents have reported their child
as being positive for strep without a fever! The child's
only complaint was a very bad sore throat. We are also having
quite a few cases of stomach virus/flu with and without
high fevers. Some of the students have been reported to
have a secondary infection when the fever has been high
for several days. (i.e. ear infection and sinus infection)
Please refer to the January 20th Epistle for information
regarding strep throat.
Please remember to follow the Health Office guidelines regarding
medication at school, re-admittance after illness and so
forth. The information is in the Handbook on page thirty-six.
As always, thanks for your cooperation in keeping all the
children at SPA healthy.
