NO EPISTLE THANKSGIVING WEEK
A THANKSGIVING BLESSING
May an abundance of gratitude burst forth
As you reflect upon what you have received.
May thanksgiving overflow in your heart
And often be proclaimed in your prayer.
May you gather around the table of your
heart
The ardent faithfulness, kindness, and goodness
Of each person who is true to you.
May the harvest of your actions
Bring forth plentiful fruit each day.
May you discover a cache of hidden wisdom
Among the people and events
That have brought you distress and sorrow.
May your basket of blessings surprise you
With its rich diversity of gifts
And its opportunities for growth.
May all that nourishes and resources your
life
Bring you daily satisfaction and renewed hope
May you slow your hurried pace of life
So you can be aware of, and enjoy,
What you too easily take for granted.
May you always be open, willing,
And ready to share your blessings with others.
May your never forget the Generous One
Who loves you lavishly and unconditionally.
-Joyce Rupp
On Thursday Nov. 14th each family received a grocery
bag with a list of appropriate foods for the holidays.
Our suggestion is that you shop with your children
and allow them to follow the list and fill the bags
for people less fortunate than we are. We would like
to receive all of the groceries by Tuesday Nov.26th.
, so that we can deliver them in time for Thanksgiving.
Deliver them to the Lobby of the school. Thank you
once again for your ongoing generosity and thoughtfulness.
Have a very wonderful, peaceful and restful Thanksgiving.
Remember that the Sunday after Thanksgiving is the
First Sunday of Advent. Note change in Advent Wreath
Making--Wreaths will be made on Sunday afternoon starting
at 3pm.in the Pavilion. We will finish on time for
5:30 Mass.
On Monday, Dec. 1st. the faculty have an in-service
day. We are all visiting the Pomona Public School
District to observe their very excellent use of technology.
The follow up to this visit will take place on Feb.
10th.when the head of the technology program will
come to our school to continue to guide us in greater
use of technology in the curriculum.
Yes, on Monday Dec. 1st there will be coaches program
until 2:50 followed by Lenny's
Tuesday, Dec. 3rd is High School night at St. Paul's.
The Eighth, Seventh, and Sixth grade parents are invited.
The parents from Notre Dame Academy and St. Sebestian
will join us. The choice for students to attend is
optional.
7:00 All assemble in the church
7:30 Session One
8:00 Session Two
8:30 Session Three
9:00 Light refreshments in JCPC --opportunity to meet
high school
Presenters.
In the course of the evening you will
have the possibility of hearing from three different Catholic
high schools.
UNIFORM-UNIFORMS-UNIFORMS
The following concerns apply to a few
sixth graders and mostly to the students in grades seven
and eight.
Problem:
Boys shorts are worn too low on
hips.
Boys slacks are too long and dragging along the
ground. (this has
improved- needs to be consistent.)
Girls skirts are too, too short.
Since purchasing the uniforms
the girls have grown considerably. (Although I think a
good choice of
length was not made initially.) Some girls roll the waist
to shorten Shirts.
Solution:
"In automobile terms, the child supplies
the power but the
parents have to do the steering"(B. Spock).Make sure
your sons understand waistline.
Shorten slacks to reach the top of the shoe.Girls skirt
is to reach the tip of the kneecap when standing up straight.
Consequence: (Will go into effect on Tuesday Dec. 2nd.
This will give time to understand the problem and apply
solution.)
Each morning students who are not abiding by Uniform
code will be sent to the Pavilion to phone parents
to bring
correct uniform or to take student home.
(I am sorry to be so heavy handed, some students when
asked very nicely to do the right thing for the right
reason pay no attention--- they only understand the
heavy hand.
This is the Principal's prerogative.
Detention is not part of the consequence---why should
very
busy teachers have to supervise someone who ignores
what
is expected. (When you join the Club you keep
the rules.)

Weekly
Readings/Reflections
These are the readings for next Sunday, November 24,
Christ the King. Please read and reflect on these readings
during the week (alone or with family and friends), and
come to next Sundays liturgy prepared to listen
attentively to the proclamation of the Word of God.
READING I Ezekiel 34:11-12, 15-17
Thus says the Lord GOD:
I myself will look after and tend my sheep.
As a shepherd tends his flock when he finds himself among
his scattered sheep, so will I tend my sheep.
I will rescue them from every place where they were scattered
when it was cloudy and dark.
I myself will pasture my sheep; I myself will give them
rest, says the Lord GOD.
The lost I will seek out, the strayed I will bring back,
the injured I will bind up, the sick I will heal,
but the sleek and the strong I will destroy, shepherding
them rightly.
As for you, my sheep, says the Lord GOD,
I will judge between one sheep and another, between rams
and goats.
READING II 1 Corinthians 15:20-26, 28
Brothers and sisters:
Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits
of those who have fallen asleep.
For since death came through man, the resurrection of
the dead came also through man.
For just as in Adam all die, so too in Christ shall all
be brought to life, but each one in proper order:
Christ the firstfruits; then, at his coming, those who
belong to Christ;
then comes the end, when he hands over the kingdom to
his God and Father,
when he has destroyed every sovereignty and every authority
and power.
For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under
his feet.
The last enemy to be destroyed is death.
When everything is subjected to him, then the Son himself
will also be subjected
to the one who subjected everything to him, so that God
may be all in all.
GOSPEL Matthew 25:31-46
Jesus said to his disciples:
"When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all
the angels with him,
he will sit upon his glorious throne, and all the nations
will be assembled before him.
And he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd
separates the sheep from the goats.
He will place the sheep on his right and the goats on
his left.
Then the king will say to those on his right, 'Come, you
who are blessed by my Father.
Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation
of the world.
For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and
you gave me drink,
a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed
me,
ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.'
Then the righteous will answer him and say,
'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty
and give you drink?
When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked
and clothe you?
When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?'
And the king will say to them in reply,
' Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of the
least brothers of mine, you did for me.'
Then he will say to those on his left,
'Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire prepared
for the devil and his angels.
For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty
and you gave me no drink,
a stranger and you gave me no welcome, naked and you gave
me no clothing,
ill and in prison, and you did not care for me.'
Then they will answer and say,
'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger
or naked or ill or in prison,
and not minister to your needs?'
He will answer them,
'Amen, I say to you, what you did not do for one of these
least ones, you did not do for me.'
And these will go off to eternal punishment, but the righteous
to eternal life."
