From the desk of Sister Stella

"... the time of my departure has come; I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race;
I have kept the faith."  (2 Tim 4: 5.)

From the Desk of Sister Stella Maria, Principal

We send our love, prayers and sympathy to all of our Paulist Fathers as they mourn the death of their beloved Fr. Bud.

Students who represented their class at the children’s prayer service shared the following memories of Fr. Bud.

Kaelin (1st grade)

Father Bud always told us stories about Jesus. We loved it!  Then he would bless us. Before leaving he would say: “Put a little love in your heart..” and we would say: “..and the world will be a better place…”  And he would say: “And you know it!”

Hilary (2nd grade)

I remember when Fr. Bud would come to our classroom and tell stories about Jesus and talk to our class. I especially remember the story about the Lady, Jesus saved from being hit by stones thrown at her. But my favorite thing I remember is that he would say “Put a little love in your heart.” and we would say “and the world will be a better place!”

Sam (3rd grade)

Father Bud always had a way of making everyone smile and feel better. He used to say, “When I leave, I don’t want to see any tears because I will be happy.”

Robin (4th grade)

My favorite memory of Father Bud is that he was Boy Scout. He always took a huge interest in our Boy Scout liturgy and supported us in preparing for this special event.

5th Grade

We remember Fr. Bud because he would lead prayer for Boy Scouts.

6ht Grade

Fr. Bud was someone who would take care of others without any thought for himself.

I remember that when I would see him walking I would always go up to him and give him a hug because he was more than our kindergarten chaplain, he was our friend, and who can’t use a hug these days.

I also remember how much I would look forward to Christmas Eve Mass and watching him interact with the children. He made our first Christmas Eve Mass especially memorable, with his love and warmth.

Fr. Bud would be there for the good times and the bad. He was there for our First communion to congratulate us.  He was there at Sunday mass to hello.  I know if he were here with us today he would not want us to mourn his death, but to think of it as a new beginning.

Fr, Bud we love you and we will miss you.

And don’t forget to PUT A LITTLE LOVE IN YOUR HEART

ALL:  AND THE WORLD WILL BE A BETTE PLACE!

Chris (7th grade)

On our summer vacation 4 years ago, my dad had lost his wedding ring. He had left it in the hotel where we were staying. After we returned home, my mom set our to find the exact one for him. They had call Fr. Bud to set an appointment meet with him so that he could bless it for them! That weekend my family and I went to the little chapel in the rectory and Father Bud not only blessed the new ring, but also had my parents say all of their weeding vows to each other. Father Bud said “Why not? As long as you are here, I can marry you all over again.” It was an experience that I’ll always remember… watching my parents get married. I still remember the smile on Fr. Bus’s face when the ceremony ended.

Matthew (8th grade)

I will always remember Father Bud’s visits to our kindergarten class. He always came with a smile and reinforced our faith. He taught us to be nice to everyone and to respect others. He persevered through tough time and he always loved children

Weekly Readings/Reflections

January 15, 2006
Second Sunday in Ordinary Time

Reading I
1 Sm 3:3b-10, 19

Samuel was sleeping in the temple of the LORD
where the ark of God was.
The LORD called to Samuel, who answered, “Here I am.”
Samuel ran to Eli and said, “Here I am. You called me.”
“I did not call you,” Eli said. “Go back to sleep.”
So he went back to sleep.
Again the LORD called Samuel, who rose and went to Eli.
“Here I am,” he said. “You called me.”
But Eli answered, “I did not call you, my son. Go back to sleep.”

At that time Samuel was not familiar with the LORD,
because the LORD had not revealed anything to him as yet.
The LORD called Samuel again, for the third time.
Getting up and going to Eli, he said, “Here I am. You called me.”
Then Eli understood that the LORD was calling the youth.
So he said to Samuel, “Go to sleep, and if you are called, reply,
Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening.”
When Samuel went to sleep in his place,
the LORD came and revealed his presence,
calling out as before, “Samuel, Samuel!”
Samuel answered, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”

Samuel grew up, and the LORD was with him,
not permitting any word of his to be without effect.

Reading II
1 Cor 6:13c-15a, 17-20

Brothers and sisters:
The body is not for immorality, but for the Lord,
and the Lord is for the body;
God raised the Lord and will also raise us by his power.

Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ?
But whoever is joined to the Lord becomes one Spirit with him.
Avoid immorality.
Every other sin a person commits is outside the body,
but the immoral person sins against his own body.
Do you not know that your body
is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you,
whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?
For you have been purchased at a price.
Therefore glorify God in your body.

Gospel
Jn 1:35-42

John was standing with two of his disciples,
and as he watched Jesus walk by, he said,
“Behold, the Lamb of God.”
The two disciples heard what he said and followed Jesus.
Jesus turned and saw them following him and said to them,
“What are you looking for?”
They said to him, “Rabbi” -. which translated means Teacher .-,
“where are you staying?”
He said to them, “Come, and you will see.”
So they went and saw where Jesus was staying,
and they stayed with him that day.
It was about four in the afternoon.
Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter,
was one of the two who heard John and followed Jesus.
He first found his own brother Simon and told him,
“We have found the Messiah” -. which is translated Christ -..
Then he brought him to Jesus.
Jesus looked at him and said,
“You are Simon the son of John;
you will be called Cephas” .- which is translated Peter.
