From the desk of Sister Stella

Prayer:
Loving God, teach us what it means to share from the heart. Sometimes we share because we want to et something in return. Deepen our love so that we can give without counting the cost. Open our eyes to those around us, so that we can see their need. Touch our hearts so that we will do all we can to meet the needs of others. At this time of year, help us to remember that you shared the greatest gift, your Son, Jesus who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit. Amen

Traffic Duty Assignments

January Traffic Duty Assignments (4th grade)

Nice job 5th grade and way to rally Jean and Mary, thanks for getting your schedules in on time and all the phone calls.

Everyone Please Remember:
Just a reminder: There is NO parking inside the driveway by the rectory at anytime. Please inform nannies, grandparents and anyone else who drives to school.

There are no left turns when exiting onto Ohio in the morning.

You do not get to choose whether you turn into the driveway or let your children out on Selby- this is up to the director.

Be courteous to all volunteers, even when you are in a hurry- it’s easy to be kind when you are not under pressure, we are all modeling how to handle that pressure to our children- let’s all take the high road!

Weekly Readings/Reflections

Next Sunday, December 21, is the Fourth Sunday of Advent.
Please read and reflect on these readings during the week (alone or with family and friends), and come to next Sunday’s liturgy prepared to listen attentively to the proclamation of the Word of God.

READING I Micah 5:1-4a

Thus says the LORD:
You, Bethlehem-Ephrathah
too small to be among the clans of Judah,
from you shall come forth for me
one who is to be ruler in Israel;
whose origin is from of old,
from ancient times.
Therefore the Lord will give them up, until the time
when she who is to give birth has borne,
and the rest of his kindred shall return
to the children of Israel.
He shall stand firm and shepherd his flock
by the strength of the LORD,
in the majestic name of the LORD, his God;
and they shall remain, for now his greatness
shall reach to the ends of the earth;
he shall be peace.

READING II Hebrews 10:5-10

Brothers and sisters:
When Christ came into the world, he said:
"Sacrifice and offering you did not desire,
but a body you prepared for me;
in holocausts and sin offerings you took no delight.
Then I said, 'As is written of me in the scroll,
behold, I come to do your will, O God.'"
First he says, "Sacrifices and offerings,
holocausts and sin offerings,
you neither desired nor delighted in."
These are offered according to the law.
Then he says, "Behold, I come to do your will."
He takes away the first to establish the second.
By this "will, " we have been consecrated
through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

GOSPEL Luke 1:39-45

Mary set out
and traveled to the hill country in haste
to a town of Judah,
where she entered the house of Zechariah
and greeted Elizabeth.
When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting,
the infant leaped in her womb,
and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit,
cried out in a loud voice and said,
"Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb.
And how does this happen to me,
that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears,
the infant in my womb leaped for joy.
Blessed are you who believed
that what was spoken to you by the Lord
would be fulfilled."

The Fourth Sunday of Advent (December 21)

READINGS He will shepherd his flock by strength of the Lord; Through the offering of Christ we have been consecrated; Elizabeth’s unborn child leaps for joy at Mary’s greeting.

WHAT I HEAR
What good news do I hear that touches my life?

MY FAITH JOURNEY
A new birth always seems a miracle. What are you giving birth to today?

FOR CHILDREN When we say the ‘Hail Mary’, we say the same words Elizabeth used to greet Mary when she heard that Jesus was going to be born.
What good news will you tell Baby Jesus on Christmas morning?.

From the School Nurse

FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE

Dear Parent:

Please remember to check your student’s for lice during the Holiday Season! Especially those who have had them before!!! Often during the holidays there are sleepovers and sharing of hats and scarves etc. And it only takes one nit to start the cycle again!

Please remember that your child must be 24 hours fever free before returning to school! I understand you would like to see them perform in the various Christmas programs, but think of others who would like to be there for their children also. Sending your child back too soon infects other children and increases the probability of your child relapsing.

Please remember to get your TB test done over the vacation so you can help at your grade level. Your child will be delighted to see you volunteering on campus.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Miss Anderson/RN
School Nurse

Thank you for your tremendous response to the St. Joseph Center Adopt-a-Family Christmas Outreach program. Within a few days of our Epistle article, word had spread and all 25 of our families were adopted! St. Joseph’s Center was so grateful for the wonderful gifts we provided to their families. The "wish lists" from these families included items such as blankets, clothing and grocery store certificates which tells us how much our help was needed.
