"Most children hear what you say; some children
do what you say; but all children do what you do."
Kathleen C. Theisa
It was very gratifying for the faculty, staff, Paulist Fathers
to witness such a dynamic group of parents at our back-to-school
night, Thank you so much for making the effort to demonstrate
such a strong connection with the school for your children.
If you have any suggestions as how we can improve the program
in any way, please dont' hesitate to send them to
me. If they seem at all viable we will consult the faculty
and other parents to elicit their thoughts.
Much
work and organization goes into preparing the evening. The
staff, teachers, priests, Paulist Women's Club and the student
council all play a major role in the planning and implementing.
I
wish to acknowledge Mr. Michael Hook (Father of Lindsey
3rd. gr.) for making our very professional gate signs. Michael
your directions on each sign are so clear. I hope we did
not create too many problems for you when we requested a
map of the campus. Blessings on you and on your family.
Parents
as you drive on to the yard, have you noticed the great
signs that read "STOP" and "SLOW"?
Thank you, Wu Family---a present to the school on Laura's
birthday.
Kindergarten
Parents, I am so sorry to inform you that it is not possible
to store car seats any place in the school during the day.
We are so crunched for space and we have very strict safety
rules and fire regulations. Please make other plans for
the safety of your children in the car.
On behalf of the faculty and staff, I wish to thank parents
who send their children to school each day rested and beautifully
groomed. In school we let the children know that their personal
appearance is indicative of their respect for themselves
and their attitude towards their life in and out of school.
We have a few characters who need to take a little more
care of personal appearance.
Monday, Sept 30th. is a Faculty Inservice Day. School will
not be in session, but there will be Coaches Program followed
by Day Care. The Inservice will take place on Campus

Grade Girls Volleyball - White Team
The girls played their opening game at home last Friday against
Oaks Christian. The team came out strong with a decisive 15-5,
15-3 victory. Strong overhand serving, excellent bumping and
setting, and solid coaching all led to this impressive win.
Another contributing factor to the teams success was
the fantastic turnout - from infant siblings to grandparents
- which helped spur the players on. The team played their
second game at home against Campbell Hall on Wednesday,September
25th. The score of this game will be reported in next weeks
Epistle.
This Saturday, September 28th, the White Team will be playing
in a tournament at St. Therese School located at 1106 East
Alhambra Road in Alhambra. The tournament begins at 8:00am
so players should arrive no later than 7:45am. We invite family
and friends to come out to cheer for the team.

Weekly
Reading/Reflection:
These are the readings for next Sunday, September 29, the
Twenty-Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time. Please read and reflect
on these readings during the week (alone or with family
and friends), and come to next Sunday's liturgy prepared
to listen attentively to the proclamation of the Word of
God.
READING I Ezekiel 18:25-28
Thus says the LORD:
You say, "The LORD's way is not fair!"
Hear now, house of Israel: Is it my way that is unfair,
or rather,
are not your ways unfair?
When someone virtuous turns away from virtue to commit iniquity,
and dies, it is because of the iniquity he committed that
he must die.
But if he turns from the wickedness he has committed,
he does what is right and just, he shall preserve his life;
since he has turned away from all the sins that he has committed,
he shall surely live, he shall not die.
READING II Philippians 2:1-11
Brothers
and sisters:
If there is any encouragement in Christ,
any solace in love, any participation in the Spirit,
any compassion and mercy, complete my joy by being
of the same mind, with the same love, united in heart, thinking
one thing.
Do nothing out of selfishness or out of vainglory;
rather, humbly regard others as more important than yourselves,
each looking out not for his own interests, but also for
those of others.Have
in you the same attitude that is also in Christ Jesus,
Who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality
with God something to be grasped.
Rather, he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave,
coming in human likeness; and found human in appearance,
he humbled himself, becoming obedient to the point of death,
even death on a cross. Because of this, God greatly exalted
him
and bestowed on him the name which is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend,
of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

GOSPEL Matthew 21:28-32
Jesus said to the chief priests and elders of the people:
"What is your opinion? A man had two sons.
He came to the first and said, 'Son, go out and work in
the vineyard today.'
He said in reply, 'I will not,' but afterwards changed his
mind and went.
The man came to the other son and gave the same order. He
said in reply, 'Yes, sir,' but did not go. They answered,
"The first."
Jesus said to them,
"Amen, I say to you, tax collectors and prostitutes
are entering the kingdom of God before you.
When John came to you in the way of righteousness, you did
not believe him;
but tax collectors and prostitutes did.
Yet even when you saw that, you did not later change your
minds
and believe him."

The
psalmists do their share of laying blame and taking
blame for the evils of the world. How do we come to
know the areas of our own sin and seek forgiveness?
-
Who does our society consider hopelessly lost or incapable
of good? If these "lost" people performed
an act of good would we be able to see and acknowledge
it, or would we be suspicious
